Wesley Gibbs (2020): Interview
In Michigan, there are quality basketball players that can be found in every nook and cranny of the state. Cheryl Stockwell Academy in Brighton is home to Wesley Gibbs. He is a 5’10” shooting guard in the class of 2020. Gibbs is a skilled young athlete that fans of the game should be aware of. I recently caught up with Wesley Gibbs to talk about his game, next season, and more.
Question:
What do you feel is the biggest strength of your game?
Wesley Gibbs:
My biggest strength would have to be my jump shot.
Question:
What have you been doing this summer to improve?
Wesley Gibbs:
This past summer I’ve been working on my finishing abilities and ball handling.
Question:
What are your goals for next high school season?
Wesley Gibbs:
This next school season my goal is to win a district championship.
Question:
What are you looking forward to the most about next season?
Wesley Gibbs:
This next season I’m looking forward most to playing along side my best friend Jeremy Odoms.
Question:
What do you think that you can bring to a college program someday?
Wesley Gibbs:
One day I believe I can bring a strong work ethic and good jump shot to a college program.
Question:
What is your best basketball memory?
Wesley Gibbs:
My best basketball memory would be a few years back when my AAU team played up for a tournament and won second place.
Question:
Who is the toughest player that you have ever matched up with?
Wesley Gibbs:
The toughest player I’ve ever matched up as far as open gyms and workouts go would either be Emoni Bates, Jaden Akins, or Spencer Littleson. But as far as official games go it would have to be DeSean Munson.
Question:
What NBA player does your game remind you of?
Wesley Gibbs:
My game reminds me of Kyle Korver.
