Personal Statement

As a member of the Piedmont basketball team and a varsity starter at Piedmont Oklahoma High School, I am beginning my search for a college basketball program where I can make an immediate impact, as well as further develop my skills and strength. As a college student athlete I can bring my academic standard and ability to adapt on the court and coaching philosophy’s. My strengths are as a Shooting Guard and Point Guard, I was the leading scorer on the team for 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 team. My shooting percentage inside the arc was 47%, 3 point shooting at 44%, 93% from the free throw line, 5 rebounds and 3 assists a game average. I can create my own shot, finish at the basketball as well as penetrate and dish off to an open teammate. I usually guard the best player on the opposing team and do a good job of shutting them down.

My goal is to help my team develop into one of the top teams in their division and win the championship. I have been told by several coaches that I have a high basketball IQ and can see the game and react to any situation. The lights or the situation doesn’t bother me and I want to be the player with the ball in his hands to help the team win by either shooting or dishing the ball to the open player. I am a versatile player and can play any position the coach asks me to play.

My goal academically is to pursue a degree in Engineering, I am a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and currently carry a 4.1 GPA. Our team had 3 sophomores start last year 2016-2017 and we were unranked going into the season. 2017-2018 we had a coaching change at mid year and pulled together as a team and again was one game away from going to the state finals again. We were 1 game away from going to state in a very talented 5A conference were I was also awarded the 3rd team All-Conference player of the year for 2016-2017.
