Prospect Spotlight: Drake Dow (2018)
Drake Dow is a point guard for St Helens who shows tremendous leadership on and off the court. He knows how to get the guys involved. Dow sees the floor well and demonstrates strong handles.
“I expect to have the best high school season our school has seen in years. We have a great group of guys and I love playing with them.”
Drake has played AAU in the off season for several years. Teams including, Team Jones, Force, and First Step.
In the off season Dow plays aau and pushes himself in his own workouts.. He also does the Max Hoop clinics.
Dow trains with past and present coaches working on lots of shooting and dribbling. “Drake shows a very strong work ethic.”
“I feel my work ethic, ability to see the floor and dedication to the sport separates me from others.”
Dow recently received athlete of the week and month each season along with a scholars athlete and got honors of 3rd team all-league last year.
The second game of the year Dow finished with stats of 20 points 8 steals 5 rebounds and 5 assist against North Salem.
Last Friday St. Helens played Scappoose in the 7 mile war rivalry. Dow played all 32 minutes and lead the team with 21 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals resulting in an 72-66 victory.
“We could not have accomplished such a great win without his fantastic on court presence. He has really grown into a leader. Drake helps get guys into the right spots to be successful. He knows when to push the tempo and when to slow it down. He loves to get guys involved and as a result, everyone got to get it going at one point or another Friday night. If this season is going to be as special as I think it will be, he will have to get us there.” Said head coach Jordan Massinger
