Mike Talbott

Mike Talbott has been involved with basketball as a player, coach, or scout for most of the past 50 years.
Mike started Star Hoopers Of Tomorrow High School Basketball Scouting Service in 1992 and he continues to run that scouting service today, which has around 20 subscribing colleges each year.
Mike coached high school basketball at his alma mater, Bartlett Yancey High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina from 1987-2000.
While an assistant basketball coach for his high school basketball and baseball coach Lindsey Page, Mike started Star Hoopers Of Tomorrow Scouting Service in 1992, when the AAU Nationals were held in nearby Winston-Salem for three years in the early 1990s.
Later Mike was a varsity basketball head coach for five years at Bartlett Yancey, compiling an 80-47 win-loss record, before resigning as head coach in the year 2000, when it was becoming increasingly difficult to both coach and run the scouting service.
Mike served in the position of Graduate Assistant in the Middle Tennessee State University basketball program, as an undergraduate.
In preseason, Mike worked with the Middle Tennessee's big men and during the season, he worked with players who chose to work on their shooting, before and or after practice. When instructed to do so, Mike also sent short letters and made telephone calls to high school coaches of players the Blue Raiders were interested in.
After graduating from Middle Tennessee in 1978, Mike eventually back home and began coaching basketball, forming the Yanceyville Racers AAU basketball team 1982 and coaching that team from 1982-1984 and again from 1987-1996. At that time, there were only six AAU teams in the state of North Carolina.
So Mike was doing double-duty as coach of the Yanceyville Racers AAU team and as assistant coach at his alma mater, until resigning as head coach in 2000 to continue solely with Star Hoopers Of Tomorrow.

Mike began writing for Prep Hoops in early May.
