This recent Northwestern (IA) commit had a monster season as a junior (see below), and there’s no reason to think he wont be better as a senior. A big and physical guard, Hilbrands has the build of a fullback and nice skill to pair. Look for him to fill up the stat sheet each night out, and solidify himself as one of LeMars’ all-time greats.
First Team
2017 Trenton Hilbrands, 6’1 G, LeMars (23.9 PPG, 56 FG%, 4.5 APG, 9.0 RPG)
Those numbers say it all; Hilbrands was magnificent last season as a junior. Can he better himself this season?
2017 Parker Lange, 6′ G, Storm Lake (19.2 PPG, 2.9 APG, 3.9 RPG)
This Martin Brothers product has put together an outstanding career with the Tornadoes, he’ll look to go out with a bang this season.
2017 Ben Gesink, 6’2 PG, Western Christian (9.0 PPG, 3.3 APG, 3.2 RPG)
His numbers aren’t as sterling as others on this list, but believe us, his skill-set is there. Josh VanLingen commanded the ball a ton last season, Gesink’s numbers will balloon with the big-man gone.
2017 Trey Valentine, 6’5 F, Cherokee, Washington (13.0 PPG, 54 FG%, 47 3FG%, 1.8 BPG, 6.9 RPG)
A do-everything forward, Valentine will be a state-stuffer for the Braves this winter. He’s an efficient shooter too, from close and long-range.
2018 Brady Kluender, 5’10 PG, Spencer (5.1 PPG, 56 FG%, 1.5 APG, 1.3 RPG)
Numbers-wise Kluender isn’t on par with the rest of the first team. But with a stable of seniors moving on after last season, it’s his team now – we think he’ll shine.
Second Team
2017 Joshua Werge, 5’11 G, Storm Lake
2018 Will Pottebaum, 6′ G, LeMars
2017 Thomas Schultes, 5’11 G, Emmetsburg
2018 Frankie Ramos, 6′ G, Spirit Lake
2017 Jesse Jansma, 6’4 F, Western Christian
Honorable Mention: Max Dunlap (Emmetsburg), Jacob Thompson (LeMars), Andrew Seemann (Spirit Lake), Jal Lieth (Storm Lake), Brayden Hoops (Storm Lake), Mason Pitts (Cherokee, Washington), Ben Lingenfelter (Cherokee, Washington)
