Martens is an all-around offensive threat who is the division’s leading returning scorer, and third leading rebounder. He showed how explosive he can be with a 37 point game last season, and he should lead the division in scoring again as he looks to lead his Eagles to a division title.
First Team
2017 Alex Martens, Midland, Wyoming (20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 78.2 FT%)
The division’s leading returning scorer, Martens scored a career-high 37 points in a game against Springville last year. He attempted nearly seven free throws a game, and showed his ability to score inside and out by also knocking down 56 three-pointers.
2017 Brett Kelting, Calamus-Wheatland (15.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 45.3 FG%)
The leading scorer for a Cal-Wheatland team that should contend for the division title this year, Kelting is capable of scoring from anywhere.
2017 Seth Moeller, Prince of Peace Prep (14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 45.7 FG%)
A versatile 6-5 forward, Moeller was among the division’s leaders in steals and is the third returning scorer.
2017 Garrett Rickels, Calamus-Wheatland (13.3 points, 3.4 assists, 40.9 3P%)
The division leader in three-pointers made with 63, Rickels also did so efficiently, connecting on nearly 41% of his shots from the arc. He also finished fourth in the division in assists, a number that may improve with an improved Cal-Wheatland group.
2017 Connor Harms, Midland, Wyoming (8.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists)
Midland’s point guard led the division in assists by a wide margin and was also among the leaders in steals. The floor general will pair with Martens to try and lead their Eagles to a division crown.
