Dirks, a versatile and skilled forward, led the division in scoring last season and is the second leading returning rebounder. He also led the division in blocks. An efficient offensive threat, he shot 62.9% from the floor last season, and has worked to expand his game out to the arc. An athletic mismatch with his size, strength and quickness, look for Dirks to have a huge junior year as college interest starts rolling in.
First Team
2018 Grant Dirks, Center Point-Urbana (15.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.4 blocks. 62.9 FG%)
The leading returning scorer, Dirks will become even more of a focal point for the Stormin’ Pointers this year following the graduation of their next three scorers.
2018 Spencer Touro, Benton Community (10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.9 steals, 47.6 FG%, 43.4 3P%, 78.7 FT%)
Following the departure of a strong group of seniors, the Bobcats will now be Touro’s team. A flashy scoring guard, he also gets his teammates involved and makes plays on the defensive end. He should push 18-point a game territory.
2017 Tyler Eggert, Benton Community (9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 81.8 FT%)
The top wingman alongside Touro, Eggert will be asked to increase his production across the board, something he’s capable of doing.
2018 Gabe Shields, South Tama (11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 41.1 FG%)
Shields had a solid sophomore season as Rosenberger’s sidekick. Look for his production to increase for a South Tama team that should be improved.
2017 Clayton Rosenberger, South Tama (15.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 steals, 43.7 FG%, 36.5 3P%)
He played in just 12 games last year, but showed how much of an offensive threat he can be, averaging 15 points a game. Capable of scoring from anywhere on the floor, he could push for the division’s scoring crown.
Second Team
2017 Cole Smith, Vinton-Shellsburg
2018 Ben Subbert, Williamsburg
2017 Baylor Fish, Marion
2017 Tyler Bartz, Vinton-Shellsburg
2017 Isaiah Powell, Williamsburg

2018 Chase Zielke, Marion
2019 Sean Geertsema, Independence
2018 Brandon Blythe, Williamsburg
2018 Dylan Harris, Center Point-Urbana
