Despite losing Michael Bibby Jr. and JJ Rhymes, Shadow should be up to the task of having a successful year due to the young talent of Jaelen House and Javon Blacksher. Furthermore, they return many talented older prospects and will benefit greatly from the transfer of Marcus Shaver.
6’1 PG/SG House can flat out play. Everybody knew that he could shoot the basketball at an extremely high rate prior to him getting to high school. He continued that trend and showed that he is capable of knocking it down despite a faster game that is played at a higher level. Moreover, he demonstrated an ability to play make plays on the defensive end due to his length and quickness.
House has an extremely high basketball IQ which assists him greatly when driving as he has a good feel for finding open teammates after pulling the help side defense. In addition, especially for being such a young prospect, he does a nice job of dictating the tempo of the game from the point guard spot.
After participating on a team that won last year’s state title and participating with the I-10 Celtics as well as the EYBL sponsored Phoenix Phamily, House still has yet to earn a lot of exposure. As it currently stands, he has received “letters” from “Notre Dame” and “GCU”.
Shadow Mountain, under the tutelage of former NBA player Michael Bibby, has earned a reputation for its players having the opportunity to play at the next level. Most notably Craig Randal and Michael Bibby Jr. who are playing for Memphis and USF. With that in mind, as House continues to demonstrate an ability to play at the next level, more and more suitors should become interested in the highly talented prospect.
House mentioned that his goal for the upcoming season is “to win state [and] nothing less.” With the emergence of himself and Blacksher, the returning of Jordan Pace, Tyler Jaffery, and Darion Spottsville, and the transfer of Marcus Shaver this is a realistic goal. The group should pick up right where they left off in their new 4A classification due to these talented prospects.
Keep on eye on House as he is one of, if not the, top guards in the state for this class.
