The 6-foot-1 Reede from Aberdeen Roncalli is playing with the inaugural Sanford Pentagon basketball program that has funded a 16U squad called the PBC National team. So far the team is 11-4.
“The spring was great, we played in some great tournaments and got to play great competition,” Reede said. “Getting to travel the country to play the game of basketball and the friendship you make with your teammates is a great experience.
“The most important right now is getting stronger, but I’ve been working on my footwork a lot and my ability to change speed and direction so I can be more of a three level scorer,” said Reede.
Roncalli played one of the most difficult schedules in the state last season and while they did lose some games they grew throughout the year and qualified for the state tournament.
“Making it back to the state tournament was big, especially overcoming the regular season loss to Sisseton,” Gus said. “Individually a big highlight for me would be breaking the school records for threes in a game and season.”
The Cavs bring back a lot from last year’s rotation so they expect to be fighting for a spot in the state tournament once again.
“Things are looking good, we bring back a lot of guys that played last year and I think we have a chance to really do some damage,” Gus said. “We have guys like Braden Sommers, Conner Fiedler and Conner Deutsch that rebound ball really well.
“For us to take that next step I think everyone else including myself needs to commit to the boards because we aren’t a very big team.”
Reede is a complete hoop head. One of these guys that is playing basketball, watching basketball, working on his skills, or doing something with basketball day and night. The type of guy that will travel to compete in games, camps, skill sessions, etc.
“Yes I have thought about the next level,” said Reede. “I want to play college basketball and major in business. I’ve attended/attending many elite camps this spring and fall.”
