Continue ReadingGilbert Christian High School has enjoyed great success over the years. As of recent names like Mitch Lightfoot, who will be playing for Kansas next season, and Cameron Satterwhite, who will be playing for Loyola (Illinois), have brought fear into the opponents who have had to square up next to the power. Nate Graville a 6’7″ SF/PF, has stepped up and assisted in creating this top tier program that have caused numerous headaches for coaches.
Last season, Graville averaged 9.2 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game. With the departure of Mitch Lightfoot, Graville looks to have his role increase greatly. Part of what makes him such an intriguing prospect is his intelligence, shooting ability, and ability to play on the block. Graville averaged about 1 three pointer per game while shooting the basketball at 27%. While 27% is not incredible, a lengthy player who is versatile is what a lot of schools are looking for. In addition, I would expect that shooting percentage to improve next season.
As it currently stands, Graville has offers at “UTRGV [University of Texas Rio Grande Valley] and NAU”. UTRGV has recently had a coaching change. Thus, Graville is unsure “if the offer is still valid”.
Although he only has two offers, he has plenty of interest. “A lot of IVY league [schools], Yale, Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard.” In addition, “USD, Boston U, Santa Clara, James Madison, Montana State, TCU, Cal Northridge, Pepperdine, American, Utah State, and ASU” have talked with Graville.
He is primarily interested in attending a school that is “academically prestigious”. He is also hoping to have “a great staff that I can connect with. Also, ideally, in a pleasing location.”
He is a hard worker as well. Multiple people have commented on his work ethic. Moreover, when asked what he is hoping to do to this off-season, he stated “improve, improve, improve. Continue to practice my craft. Hit the Vertimax and add a few more inches to my hop along with putting on some more muscle to separate myself further.”
In order to attain more offers, it is vital that Graville continues to improve his athleticism and shooting. He has an above average vertical, but could afford to put some muscle on his frame. Moreover, he is a talented shooter , but could improve to up that percentage to make him a valuable prospect.
Expect Gilbert Christian to be quite competitive next season due to a lot of talent returning and the new classification. Graville has high expectations and expects the team to “win state” and “be the best in our division.”
