N.O. Elite held a 24-16 lead at halftime and held off a relentless Wolves squad in the second half to pull off the win. Their first two victories of the day came against Florida Dream, 71-64, and LT Rockets in a game that came down to the final seconds.
The two teams were tied at 48 with under 20 seconds to go before Landry-Walker 2017 G Malik Legania got a good contest on a shot at the rim and N.O. Elite quickly got the ball up court for a the go-ahead layup.
Legania was one half of a strong duo on the perimeter along with Ellender 2017 G Davontavean Martin. The 6-foot-4 Legania had a few finishes above the rim in transition and also knocked down some shots from long range. Martin (6-foot-4) repeatedly got into the paint off the dribble to put pressure on opposing defenses and consistently found ways to finish or get to the line.
Landry-Walker 2017 PG Lamont Berzat (UNO commit) played his usual role as distributor and defender while Gulfport 2018 W/F Dequarius McCord (6-foot-6) helped protect the paint with his length and athleticism. Unsigned 2016 W Ray Anderson also put his skill set on display once again doing whatever N.O. Elite needed, whether that was playing tough in the paint as a forward or scoring on the perimeter as a wing.
