Continue ReadingJaden Lee, a 6’3″ guard most recently of Hillcrest Prep, has enjoyed quite a number of experiences as far as basketball is concerned. As a freshman, he was on a state championship team at Gilbert Christian that was led by two top tier players in Mitch Lightfoot and Cameron Satterwhite. At the conclusion of the season, Lee made the tough decision to leave the program and explore his potential on a more national circuit.
In addition to playing a national schedule, Lee has been involved with Arizona United and Team Bayless in which he has had the opportunity to play at a number of highly competitive tournaments, including the Adidas Gauntlet in Texas.
Despite having plenty of time and only being a sophomore, Lee has received interest from “Oklahoma, UCLA, and University of Arizona.” Although he has not received any official offers, Lee is off to a great start with some of the top programs in the country noticing his abilities.
As far as what he is looking for in a school, Lee stated, “[A place] where I can help build a great program and be a factor to the success. Also, [a place where] I can have a strong relationship with the coaches.” Lee is not overly concerned as far as the geographical location of the place. Rather, he values a place that affords him the opportunity to grow as a person and player.
Lee acknowledged he needs to improve his game in order to play at the next level, he stated his “My mid-range shot” is an area of focus. Lee is an explosive athlete who has great strength which aids him in getting to the rim at will. In addition, he is capable of hitting shots from beyond the arc, but as he noted, their is room for improvement as far as being able to put the ball on the floor, stop on a dime, and pull.
He has a number of strengths as well that drastically assist in his ability to play at the next level. As far as he is concerned, one of his greatest attributes is his “defense”. His athleticism not only allows for him to create on the offensive end; rather, it opens up the ability for him to make an impact in an array of ways throughout the game. In addition, he is highly motivated as he asserted, “My goal for this high school season is to show that I’m a true point guard and a leader on and off the court. I’ve been working on a lot of different parts of my game, like making guys around me better and really taking pride in my defense and shutting guys down. I hope the hard work and hours I’m putting in the gym right now… will show.”
In regards to club basketball, Lee is excited to participate with Arizona United and Team Bayless as he feels like, “We can do big things if we stay together and make progress. The coaching is great, they have a lot of experience themselves.” Lee is really confident and hopeful that his participation on this team as well as his talent will result in “many offers or interest” by the end of the club season.
Keep a watch on this soon to be junior as the open period hits in July. With the work that he has been putting in as well as his skill set and his unteachables, look for him to make a big splash.
