Hoover guard Y’Vez Quinn was running with Pure Prep 17U at the tournament, and we caught up with him to talk about some recruitment — which is still very much in process.
“College coaches have invited me to their camps to see how I play in front of them, and they say they like my clips and stuff like that. And when I come and meet with them we’ll talk about the offers and everything,” said Quinn.
“There’s Seminole State, Pfeiffer in North Carolina, there’s also Arkansas Tech, and there’s a few more that I can’t think of off the top of my head. But mostly JuCo’s, D2s, and a couple D3s. I’m going to be meeting up with some of them in June.”
As a showstopping guard with the Huskies last season, Quinn averaged 12 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game.
“I just went out every night and tried to get my team the victory honesty, and when it came down to scoring the ball, coaches just told me to do what I do best,” said Quinn, who gained a reputation for being one of the more clutch performers i n the state,
“Coach called me his finisher, so that’s something I took pride in.”
In the meantime — between now, and when he signs with a program — Iowa’s 31st-ranked 2016 will just work to improve his game.
“I’m working on everything, everything can improve,” said Quinn. “Practice makes perfect.
