Continue ReadingVirginia’s 2016 class is considered by many to be among the deepest in recent memory. Over 110 seniors have already committed to play basketball at the next level. Despite the large number of players who have already declared their future, is still a good number of talented seniors still available. We conclude our best available series with the 10 names listed below.
Afanna Offor: 6’4″ SF
Blue Ridge School senior Afanna Offor is a versatile wing player who can really shoot it. He’s a solid defender with considerable length which he uses to his advantage. At the next level, he should fit in nicely as a result of his ability to stretch the floor and defend.
Jemeil King: 6’3″ SG
Oakland, CA native Jemeil King exhibits a crafty scoring touch from 3 levels. The skilled senior provided instant offense for Blue Ridge off the bench. He’s a sneaky athlete with supreme confidence who could thrive right away in a similar role in college.
Daryus Evans: 6’2″ SG
Daryus Evans was a go-to scoring option during his senior campaign for Landstown. The senior displayed a confident and smooth touch from long range, to go along with the ability to fill it up in bunches. His consistency was rewarded as he earned first team all-state honors.
Spencer Askew: 5’10” PG
Spencer Askew was a revelation at the lead guard spot for West Springfield this season. The senior displayed superb quickness, strength and instincts defensively to lock down opponents. The senior’s efforts were rewarded as he was named first team all defense in the Patriot Conference. His stellar play on both ends throughout the course of the season carried over into the playoffs, as he was named to the northern region all-tournament team.
Kyonze Chavis: 6’5″ SF
Kyonze Chavis recently re-opened his recruitment after committing to Colby Community College, and visited Rider last weekend. The versatile senior forward was a key player over the course of the season for Norfolk Collegiate. Perhaps his most underrated attribute is his vision. Kyonze is not only a terrific athlete, he’s very unselfish.
Quron White: 5’11 PG
Quron White scorched the nets from long range at a high clip during his senior campaign, where he shot a blistering 57% from beyond the arc. Despite having just 49 total attempts on the season, most of his makes occurred at crucial times for Osbourn. Regarded as a leader by his peers, his presence on the floor was a critical factor to his team’s success.
Devin Nordike: 6’2 SG
Devin Nordike is perhaps the best available three point shooter remaining in Virginia’s 2016 class. He canned 62 threes on the year for Stonewall Jackson. Not only is he a standout on the court, his 3.6 GPA shows that he excels in the classroom as well.
Gintaras Bartaskas: 6’4″ SF
Despite relatively limited action for Atlantic Shores this year, Gintaras Bartaskas produced efficient plays whenever he hit the floor. He’s a rangy athlete who exhibits good versatility and scoring prowess. His confidence was evident, particularly in his perimeter jump shot. His work rate is exceptional.
Andrew Corum: 6’6″ PF
Middleburg Academy unfortunately went most of the season without Andrew Corum, who spent most of the season recovering from a foot injury. Despite his absence this year, the state champ is still regarded among the best overall prospects in the state. The state champ has considerable upside, given his length, athleticism, and defensive potential.
Musah Sackor: 6’6″ SF
Another player who missed time this season due to injury, Musah Sackor is a player who has a significant ceiling. He guarded multiple positions this year for Eastern View, where he also demonstrated an improved perimeter skill set offensively. Given his frame and two-way versatility, he could end up as one of the biggest steals in the class.
