Loudon Vollbrecht Decommits from South Dakota St
Geneva 2016 6’9” center Loudon Vollbrecht tells PrepHoopsIllinois he has decommitted from South Dakota State and reopened his recruitment. Vollbrecht received his release on Monday afternoon. The state’s #16 overall prospect and #2 center told us why he decided to put himself back on the board.
“When I first committed in November it was to South Dakota State University, the school, the town, the team, but especially the coaches. With the change in staff although I do believe coach TJ will accomplish great things I was no longer sure that SDSU was the absolute right place for me. Coach TJ was very was very understanding and open to the idea. After much family and HS/AAU coach discussions I decided what was best for me was to reopen my recruitment.”
What will the post be looking or in a school?
“I’ve never specifically looked for one thing on visits, but of course a winning team, a close family like atmosphere in the team, and an honest coach.”
Vollbrecht missed his entire senior basketball campaign after a knee injury during his football season. He spoke about where he is with the recovery process.
“It’s been just around 5 months and it feels great, no setbacks! Getting cleared in late May/early June. Just excited to get back out there and thankful for the opportunity over the past five months to get mentally tougher and focus on what is truly important.”
The big bodied post is a space eater on the interior that moves extremely well for his size and is light on his feet. He consistently produces with his ability to get deep post position and score on the block. Vollbrecht has a soft touch around the hoop and is efficient with the shots he takes. Quality area rebounder. His signature week last summer with Tri City Thunder was his play at the KC Hardwood Classic to close out July. Vollbrecht went head to head against multiple high major post players and put up double doubles and even a triple double in one contest.
Expect lots of low-major and mid-major programs to jump in on his recruitment!
