There were numerous college coaches from both the NAIA and JUCO level in town to check out players. Multiple players stood out and it was obvious the attention they drew from the spectating coaches. Here are some of the top performers and prospects from the event.
Taylan Grogan, 2016 PG
Taylan Grogan (6’0 PG, Patterson, 2016) – Grogan showed off his smooth step back jumper and ability to score the ball almost at will throughout the event. Whether it was finishing above the rim or making shots beyond the three point line, he was one of the top scorers there.
Mike Harden (5’10 PG, Lafayette Christian, 2016) – It didn’t take long for Harden to lock in on the defensive end as most are accustomed to seeing but he showed off his athleticism and court vision throughout the game as well. Improved scoring abilities really helped him turn heads.
Quentin Scott (6’6 F, Ellender, 2016) – Scott is a very young senior but that didn’t stop him from soaring throughout the day. There is no doubt he had over 20 dunks on the day in games and when he commits to being just a slasher, is a very tough forward to handle. He did more for his stock than anyone else.
Ray Anderson (6’5 F, West Jeff, 2016) – Anderson scored the ball both inside and out and showed his ability to take people off the dribble. Looks to get back to his right hand but when he was able to, there was little any defender could do.
Jarod Carter (6’8 C, Bonnabel, 2016) – It’s possible Carter is actually a 2017 prospect and that’ll be determined soon as transcripts from California come in. He is a wide bodied big that moves his feet extremely well. Can score inside and even hit numerous three’s on Saturday.
