Class 1A Player of the Year: Kalob Ledoux
Lafayette Christian’s Kalob Ledoux was one of the more consistent performers throughout the season in Class 1A and saved his best for early in the playoffs when we scored 99 points in the first three rounds. While they fell short of the ultimate team goal when they lost to Arcadia in the Top 28 semifinals, his season was still one of note.
The 6’3 McNeese signee at shooting guard will be joined by his twin brother Jacob and they won’t have to go far from home to continue their careers together. Kalob showed off his athleticism throughout the season whether it was attacking off the bounce or as a slasher. As a lefty, his stroke looks as one would imagine most lefty shots look and he made nearly 100 three point shots on the season while shooting 43% from downtown and 82% from the line. He finished the season averaging 21.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while only having two single digit scoring outputs on the season.
Ledoux was a first team All-State performer last season and this season took his game to the next level. Even though Lafayette Christian wasn’t able to get the championship they so craved, their return to the Top 28 yet again shows the progress not only that he’s made but the team as a whole. In the loss to Arcadia in the semifinals, Kalob led the way with 14 points and did all he could to battle back. For McNeese, he’ll be able to show off his scoring ability on an even bigger stage after averaging over 28 points per game in this year’s playoffs.
