Charlie Moore Wins PrepHoopsIllinois Player of the Year
Morgan Park senior point guard Charlie Moore came into the season as the 2/1 favorite to win the award for player of the year in the state of Illinois this season. He has captured every major award and can now add the PrepHoopsIllinois Player of the Year to his collection.
The senior has stepped up to every challenge put in front of him both on the high school level and travel team circuit. He took over the number one ranking in the class of 2016 at the conclusion of July and held it through the finish line of his senior year. What makes Moore such a special player? He is a high level playmaker with the ball in his hands. As a scorer Moore has deep range on his shot where he is effective shooting pulling up and off the catch. He has a free and easy release with quick mechanics. Moore also has the ability to get buckets off the bounce by using his speed in both the open floor and half court getting in the lane where he finishes with acrobatic layups as well as floaters. The senior has greatly improved as a passer and decision maker over the last year making quality dishes to his teammates putting them in positions to succeed. He also excels on the defensive end with his quickness in the Mustangs full court trapping defense.
Moore will be an impact player at the next level as he is among the top handful of lead guards in the country. At the end of the day he is just a winner and the type of leader you want at the point guard position. Once again congratulations to Charlie Moore on winning the PrepHoopsIllinois Player of the Year award!
