Prospect Intro: Trent Moberly (2020)
Madison Southern has a strong Junior class and forward Trent Moberly is hoping to be a part of some major success for the program. The team returns 10 Juniors who saw varsity playing time last season and they are looking for a district title and a regional run. Trent describes his game as that of an aggressive player and scorer, “My post up and catch and shoot game is the best. I need to improve my jumping ability and defensive abilities.” Coming out of a Sophomore season where he started, Moberly now feels like he has a good feel for the game, ” Last season was a rebuilding year for us, we had 3 sophomore starters (including me) and we had a rough 12-20 record. As an individual I had my games where I was all over the floor, and I had my games where I wasn’t able to do anything. I ended up averaging about 7 points a game and 4 rebounds per game”
Trent is enjoying his AAU season as part of the CKY Magic organization. Moberly’s team has had an up and down season but told me, ” I think July is going to be a great month for us” and so far it has been. His team has qualified for the top bracket in both tournaments they played in so far this month. Trent is also starting to get some college attention as Holy Cross emailed him an invitation to their elite camp and said they’ll be out to see him before AAU season concludes. Part of his role with the Magic has been to be a glue guy making all the effort plays to help his team win. Trent told me, “Scoring the ball is not all that college’s are looking for, hustle and defense is just as important.” Heading into his Junior season at Southern, Moberly has high expectations for himself and his team, “My goal as a player is to average at least 1 charge per game and average 6 rebounds per game. As a team, I want to win the district championship and win the schools first ever regional game. It’s never been done and we have 2 more years to change that.” Look for Trent Moberly to have a good season for Madison Southern and try to take his team deep into the regional tournament.0000
