Recruiting Report: 2019 Robbie Beran
One of the biggest stock risers across the country has been 2019 Robbie Beran. Beran is currently slotted 5th in our 2019 Virginia Rankings. Robbie is very versatile and always is trying to impact the game in anyway he can. If he is not scoring, he is talking, rebounding the ball and playing defense. Standing at 6’9 he has the capablities of bringing the ball up the court and he can bang around in the post. The Team Richmond Garner Road product was able to talk to us about his game and recruitment this past weekend at the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest.
When asked how to describe his crazy summer, he said, “Summer has been going pretty well. I have just kind of been in the gym and working on everything and just overall working to improve my game. I am trying to get coaches to see kinda what the whole mindset is for our team and just working to improve everyday.”
His recruitment has gone to a whole new level this summer as he has recently picked up two ACC offers from Boston College and Georgia Tech, “It has definitely been nice, it all kind of started slow, nobody was really talking to me and now I am talking to a lot of coaches daily. I am just working on building those relationships because at the end of the day I am just trying to find the best fit for me: academically, socially and then obviously basketball so that is just trying to build relationships and just go through this process one day at a time.”
We asked him what schools he believes is prioritizing him the most, “There are a lot of people that I talk to daily whether that is Boston College, Georgia Tech, I talk to Rice a lot, a lot of the local Virginia schools like William and Mary, George Mason, Richmond and then UNC Charlotte.”
He recently got up to Boston College for a visit, “I went up on June 26th and I got on campus, I walked around, got closer with the staff and just tried to keep building that relationship because at the end of the day that is where everything is. I really liked it up there, it is a beautiful place.”
Georgia Tech is building a solid relationship with Beran as well, “I talk to Coach Swartz and Coach Pastner a lot. They just keep relating to me and are helping me with the process. They like how I play, how I affect the entire game, they like how I am aggressive and they like how I just go out and am playing tough all the time.
Beran knows exactly what he is looking for when making his college decision.
“It really comes down to three things as I try to keep it in three categories and I am just trying to find the best fit. The three categories are academics, academics are a huge part of my life, academics is always first. The next one is socially, whether that is getting up on campus and getting a feel for campus as well as the interaction with the players and the coaching staff. The last category is basketball, I am just trying to go in there and see what works and fits best for me.”
Robbie told us that he is in no rush to picking where he will go to school next year, “In a perfect world I would want to commit before the season, but I know the world is not perfect so I am just going to try and go through it and just decide whenever it feels right, I definitely do not want to rush this process but when the time comes, I know, I will know it.”
