The Hardwood Classic resumed action on Saturday with several standout performances taking place in the final stages of pool play.
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who played well on Saturday.
23 — Braden Belt, 6’0, G, 2019, Andover, SSA Elite Black (pictured)
Belt put together a big performance, scoring 19 points to help SSA Elite Black advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, He had a big weekend shooting the ball, going for 20 points in a Thursday night showcase against MoKan Elite 17U squad, helping his SSA Elite team hang tough until midway through the second half. He is sleight of build, but has good quickness, and is a knock down shooter, featuring terrific form and balance from the perimeter.
2 — Cevin Clark, 5’11, G, 2019, Arkansas City, Heat Elite
Clark is one of the state’s top shooters and all-around players and continues to expand his game at both ends of the floor. On Saturday, he showcased an all-around game against MoKan Elite, knocking down three 3-pointers and scoring 15 points in the first half as he showcased a pull-up jumper and a floater in the lane. He handles the ball well under pressure and brings poise and leadership to the court.
24 — DeShawn English, 6’6, F, 2018, Pittsburg, VIctory
Word is English plans to attend Link Year Prep in Branson after a standout season at Pittsburg. He has an emerging skill set and has grown more confident on the perimeter, whether it is knocking down outside shots or creating off the dribble. He brings some versatility at the defensive end of the floor and can block shots around the basket, or move his feet on the perimeter. English played with tremendous energy on Saturday, even in a challenging loss to MoKan Elite.
30 — Corbett Kimberlin, 6’0, G, 2019, Buffalo, Kan., Heat Elite
Kimberlin had it working at the offensive end of the court Saturday afternoon as he poured in four 3-pointers, including several from far beyond the 3-point arc for 12 first half points in a match-up against MoKan Elite.
5 — Jack Moellers, 6’0, G, 2020, St. Thomas Aquinas, KC Spurs Black 16U
Moellers is making a case for himself as the state’s top perimeter shooter and he had it all working in a Saturday bracket game against MoKan Elite as he knocked down seven 3-pointers and helped the Spurs keep it close throughout. He has a quick shooting release and has range well beyond the 3-point arc. Moellers also shouldered a lot of the ball handling duties for his team and proved to be solid throughout the weekend.
