3 Takeaways: Team Harden vs. EG10 Basketball Club
Team Harden led for a good portion of their game against EG10. However, they were unable to finish the job. While the loss is disappointing, a number of their players performed at a high level. This team is without a doubt one of the top 16U teams in the state as well as in the nation. The scary part is this group looks like they are far from reaching their peak. If they keep this group together, this team could be extremely special. Below are 3 Takeaways from the Team Harden game in the adidas Gauntlet.
1. The Transfer Lottery
Xavier Dusell Xavier Dusell 6'4" | SG AZ Compass Prep | 2020 State #299 Nation AZ will most likely be onto his 3rd school in as many years as he will leave Chaparral to go to a prep. While the year at Chaparral did not go as planned, it is safe to say that Dusell has not lost a beat. He is still plenty athletic and can shoot the basketball at a high level. While Harden was not able to pull out the win, Dusell was a huge reason as to why Harden led for the vast majority of the game. Wherever Dusell ends up, they will be quite lucky
Ty Harper recently moved to Arizona and is undecided on a school as well. He immediately became a household name by all the basketball gurus due to his uncoachable and awe inspiring athleticism. His athleticism was on full display once again in this one. In addition to showing his athleticism, he showed that he is a capable shooter and more than just a good athlete.
2. Big Men Making Big Steps
Not too long ago, about a year a go in fact, Dre Henry impressed me due to his footwork on the block and his grit. A lot has happened in a year as he is in better shape and starting to understand the game on a much deeper level. Further, he is working a lot on his game as a means of moving from a 4/5 to more of a 2/3. He is still far from being an asset on the wing full time. However, he is looking more and more like a high level college basketball prospect.
In addition to Henry, Carson Basham Carson Basham 6'10" | C AZ Compass Prep | 2021 State AZ has shown signs of being a high level player as well. In fact, he has played well enough to earn his fair share of interest and scholarships. He is recently coming back from an injury that kept him sidelined for quite a while. He is not completely back in shape, but he is looking more and more fluid. Moreover, he is starting to play more physical and beginning to understand how to use his length on the defensive end of the floor against other college level prospects. Basham has a really high ceiling.
3. Trent Hudgens Trent Hudgens 6'0" | PG Ironwood | 2020 State AZ ’ Stock Continues to Rise
Hudgens began the spring by participating with another club basketball team and played extremely well. He has continued to shine as he moved over to Team Harden. He is a more than capable shooter who has good length and a really good feel for the game. Hudgens’ has the potential to be one of the top guards in the state for his class. Continue to monitor his progress as he is sky rocketing in our rankings.
