Adidas Summer Championships: Most Productive
Ladera Ranch, Ca. — The second live viewing period of July began Wednesday, and with three events in Southern California within a 60 mile radius, you have to pick your spots wisely.
We spent Wednesday night at the Adidas Summer Championships at the Ladera Sports center where many of the shoe company’s top teams gathered for its final tournament of the summer.
Here are some of the most productive players from Wednesday night’s action:
Maceo Austin, ITPS Wildcats
Austin made the most of his 31 minutes of action, posting 11 points, five assists, three rebounds and even two blocked shots in a win over Game Elite Gold. Austin has good size and length for the off-guard position at 6-5 and was aggressive when attacking the basket in transition. Austin makes a huge impact on the defensive end, as well, using his instincts to anticipate passing lanes and jump them for steals.
EBO wing Jaime Jaquez, Jr. is one of the hardest working two-way players in the 2019 class.Jared Coleman-Jones, Game Elite Gold
Coleman-Jones, a 6-foot-10 center out of Pebblebrook high school in Georgia, had his hands in just about every statistical category. He scored 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting, including a floor stretching 3-pointer. Coleman-Jones added four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal to his stat line, while keeping the turnover category clean with zero mistakes.
Jaime Jaquez, EBO
There are few guys in the 2019 class who play as hard as Camarillo’s Jaquez. The 6-foot-6 UCLA-commit plays both sides of the ball without question and it shows in his impact on games. Jaquez scored 25 points on 7 of 15 shooting, while pulling down seven boards in a loss to Mass Rivals. Two of those 25 points came off one of the more electric poster dunks of the event. Jaquez has a knack for getting into the paint, drawing contact, and getting to the free throw line as he 8-for-12 from the charity stripe.
Issac Johnson, Exum Elite
Johnson had his entire (refined) skill set on display Wednesday night. The 6-foot-10 forward was scoring with his back to the basket, hitting mid-range pop out set shots and spreading the floor to 3-point range. Johnson made all seven of his field goal attempts leading to team-high 15 points and pulled down five rebounds, as well.
Orlando Robinson, Las Vegas Knicks
Robinson thrived in a match-up against Makur Maker, scoring 14 points, while pulling down six rebounds and dishing out four assists. The 6-foot-9 forward continues to peel back layers of his game each time he takes the floor, but one thing you can’t question when it comes to Robinson is his motor; he always gives good energy between the lines.
