Recruiting Report: CJ Wilbourn (2019)
Normal Community 2019 power forward CJ Wilbourn looked much more comfortable playing as a face up four man handling the ball and hit several threes which we haven’t seen before with his play in July for Quad City Elite. Liked what he did on the glass snatching them in traffic and protected the rim. Stock is going up at the right time!
He chatted with us about his summer both with his high school and travel team.
“The summer is going well. With my high school team we played well at the Morris Shootout and a lot of the shootouts. Stepping up as a leader. We expect to go far this year. I am trying to do everything rebounding, scoring, and playing great defense. With Quad City Elite I am playing tough and good defense.”
His offensive skill set is definitely making strides.
“I think it is coming along well. I am going to continue to work on my offensive game. Being more consistent shooting and driving.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“In early August I have a visit with Cornell set up. Eastern Illinois I should be visiting them too. Northwest Missouri State, Minnesota State, and West Point are showing interest.”
Cornell is very interested.
“I have been talking to their coach. He likes players with high basketball IQ. I feel I can attack and make good decisions.”
Eastern Illinois is another program in the mix.
“When I went to their elite camp I enjoyed talking to their coaches. I really like what they are doing down there.”
