Live Period Weekend Stock Risers
This past weekend was a critical time for prep basketball players looking to play at the next level. The live period is giving college coaches an opportunity to see the talent on the court first hand. Big events over the weekend saw players raise their stock in the eyes of scouts and coaches. Below are 5 of those players in Michigan.
Wendell Green Jr. (2020, PG, Detroit Country Day, Michigan Playmakers)
Green Jr. showed out at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational. He was one of the top players, even playing up at 17u.Green Jr. was one of the toughest and grittiest players there. He proved to be an elite scorer and distributor. Among Green Jr.’s highlights were a 20 point game in a loss to Ray Allen Select, 19 points in a win over Mercury Elite, and 22 points to help his team advance to the semifinals.
Myron Gardner (2019, F, Detroit Loyola, The Family)
Gardner was a beast at the Peach Invitational. He was a monster on the boards and virtually unstoppable with the ball in his hands. Gardner even earned offers from Georgetown and Georgia State. His highlights included a 24 point, 15 rebound, and 3 assist performance in a win over CIA Bounce. Gardner had 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists against the Las Vegas Prospects.
Josh Palo (2019, G, Howell, Lansing Prospectors)
Palo made a name for himself at the NY2LA event. He showed good handles, a consistent jumper, and an overall mature game. He put himself on many recruiting boards. Palo’s weekend was highlighted by an 18 point game in a win over Colorado Chaos.
Steve Pearson Steve Pearson 6'2" | SG State MI (2020, SG, Henry Ford, Michigan Playmakers)
In The NY2LA Next Level Invitational, Pearson showed that he’s not just a super athlete. He hit jumpers and dished to teammates last weekend. With his elite athleticism and expanding skill set, Pearson caught the eye of many coaches. He had 14 points in a win over Kessel Heat and 13 points in a win over MBA Indiana.
Rocket Watts (2019, G, Old Redford, The Family)
Watts continued his domination at the Peach Invitational. He’s had possibly the best spring/summer in the country in terms of shooting up the rankings. Rocket has been a scoring machine. Watts had 43 points in a 67-64 win over BABC, in front of Tom Izzo and Louisville assistants among others. He also had 29 points in a win over Boo Williams.
