Exum Elite 16s Guard Jace Whiting Enjoys Successful Adidas Gauntlet NYC Trip, Also Picks Up An Offer
This past weekend, 2020 Burley guard Jace Whiting hit the road again with this grassroots Exum Elite team in the Adidas Gauntlet series, this time landing in the Big Apple, New York City. Not only did Whiting, who’s team is coached by his father Trent Whiting (Burley head coach), go an impressive 3-1 on the weekend against the top 18 Adidas teams in the nation, but the dynamic guard picked up his first division I offer as well.
Following the weekend, head coach Trent Whiting told Prep Hoops Idaho, “we didn’t accomplish everything we had hoped for by winning it all, but I was extremely pleased with our showing.”
Jace Whiting currently sits second overall in our 2020 rankings after a tremendous season for Burley and now he’s enjoying a great spring and summer with Exum Elite. Whiting earned First Team All Great Basin honors, and was a big time player during his team’s state tournament run. Ultimately, Whiting is getting valuable exposure and competition playing with Exum Elite during this grassroots stretch, and with 25 plus division I college coaches on hand this past weekend, Whiting’s stock will likely rise.
That said, his first division I offer came from an in-state school, the Idaho State Bengals and head coach Bill Evans.

Perhaps with the news as added fuel, Whiting helped his squad post a 3-1 record showing in New York City with three straight wins after dropping their first game 59-46 to Game Elite Gold. Over the course of the weekend, Whiting displayed his excellent shooting skills by cashing in 20 three pointers over the 4 game stretch.
Exum Elite would get a win in their second game 55-36 over Louisville Magic, then earn a close victory 64-60 against Louisiana Supreme followed by another tight contest 78-75 over Ohio Basketball Club. A ton of great competition and useful battles to put under one’s belt which is exactly the sort of thing playing in the Adidas Gauntlet series can provide Whiting among the others.
With a number of west coast schools in attendance, the weekend with Exum Elite was another great step forward for the surging youngster. Up next is a trip to Orange County, California for the Adidas Summer Championships.
