2019 F Gibson Jimerson talks move to Montverde, Boo Williams, recruitment and more
Florida always earns big time transfers to schools like Montverde in the state.
2019 forward Gibson Jimerson is just another piece to the puzzle at the powerhouse academy. The 6’6″, 205-pounder comes down to wrap up his high school career from Virginia St. Christopher’s.
Jimerson currently holds offers from James Madison, Lehigh, UNC Greensboro, Cincinnati, Stony Brook, Kansas State, Columbia and American. He also has interest from East Carolina, Charlotte, St. Louis, La Salle and FAU.
He says most of the colleges love his high level shooting ability and versatility on the wing with his size and IQ.
Jimerson called his junior season at St. Christopher’s something great.
“I led the city of Richmond in scoring and became a more complete player,” he told Prep Hoops. “I became more confident in my all-around offensive game especially attacking the basket and using my size to shoot over the defense.”
He broke down his move to Montverde.
“In terms of my decision to attend Montverde, the coaches there expressed a huge level of interest in me. Also being that it was my senior year, I wanted to go somewhere that would help me get prepared for college, play against the best competition and get the most exposure.
This summer, Jimerson spent his first year playing with Boo Williams on the EYBL Circuit.
“I really enjoyed it. I finished third in 3-point percentage and fourth in offensive efficacy rating on the circuit.
In terms of his biggest strengths, Jimerson pointed to his shooting ability (both catch and shoot and running off screens), also my triple threat moves, one and two dribble pull-ups and versatility/size on the wing.
He says he wants to improve his open court ball handling, handling defensive pressure, defending faster guards and his jumping ability.
Schools like Montverde always do a tip-top job recruiting athletes year in and year out to come down to their program. It seems like it was an easy decision for Jimerson to boost his college looks, skills and overall professional approach to the game of basketball. A shooter first, look for Jimerson to try to expand his game with the Eagles.
