Class of 2019 Recruiting Update: Nationally Ranked Players
PrepHoops recently released its updated national Class of 2019 rankings and there are eight from the state of Washington on the list. Where do these players stand with their college recruiting at this point in the July live evaluation period? Here’s a quick breakdown.
#10 – Jaden McDaniels (2019 Federal Way) – The rise of McDaniels from being simply ranked to Top Ten prospect in the country has been amazing to watch this spring and summer. He has simply been dominant while playing with Seattle Rotary and at the Peach Jam this past weekend, coaches from the blue bloods of college basketball such as Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky were all visibly on the sidelines. West coast powers such as Arizona, Oregon, and UCLA have been in the mix for quite some time as well as hometown Washington and San Diego State, where his older brother Jalen plays. It’s wide open for McDaniels who doesn’t appear to be in any rush to narrow things down, much less make a decision.
#32 – PJ Fuller (2019 Garfield) – There is no rising senior in the state apparently as hot as Fuller when it comes to college recruitment. Playing this past weekend with Team Bradley at the adidas Finale, Fuller seemingly was picking up high-major offers hourly as the likes of Oregon, Minnesota, Wake Forest, Florida, St. Mary’s, Texas Tech, Iowa State, and many, many others were jumping on the bandwagon. There’s no question Fuller will have plenty of work to do with his college recruitment once the month of July is over.
#116 Anton Watson (2019 Gonzaga Prep) – Watson committed to Gonzaga and remains rock solid with the Zags. He is playing this summer with Griffins and head coach John stockton.
#120 Noah Williams (2019 O’Dea) – Williams earned an offer from hometown Washington way back in the spring of 2016 and surprisingly, that remains his only scholarship offer. That’s not to say that other programs such as Oregon State, Gonzaga, and Boise State may not join the mix but it’s clear that the Huskies have the upper hand with the talented point guard.
#149 Elijah Pepper (2019 Selah) – Pepper has run with Team LaVine this AAU season and has been a bright spot on the team, which has admittedly struggled a bit in the high-octane adidas Gauntlet. The hard-working guard has started to pick up Division I offers from the likes of UC Davis and Lehigh and may others from the Big Sky and Big West continue to be involved.
#155 Pierre Crockrell Jr (2019 Garfield) – The talented point guard from Garfield has racked up a number of offers, notably (in alphabetical order) Colorado State, Houston, Montana, Texas Tech, and Washington State.
#199 Jamon Kemp (2019 Rainier Beach) – The son of Reign Man has started to rise this spring/summer playing with Team Bradley and recently picked up an offer from Washington State. His athleticism and defensive ability have always been selling points for schools, but his emergence offensively – especially as a shooter – have taken his college recruitment to higher heights. It was recently announced that Kemp will be playing his senior season at Rainier Beach.
#223 Abdul Mohammed (2019 West Seattle) – Mohammed has largely been out of action due to injury. But his combination of size, athleticism, and skills recently earned him an offer from Eastern Washington and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the big man earn some more with a good July with Washington Supreme.
Two players already committed to schools that aren’t in the current rankings are Brock Ravet (2019 Kittitas) to Gonzaga and Raequan Battle (2019 Marysville-Pilchuck) to Washington.
