Recruiting Report: Zeke Nnaji
D1 Minnesota/Hopkins power forward Zeke Nnaji helped get D1 Minnesota to the Adidas Gauntlet final scoring 11.5 points a game on 53 percent shooting with the nation’s top schools looking on.
D1 Minnesota is still the third ranked 17u team in the nation according today’s PrepHoops.com team rankings with a 29-2 record. The local squad lost to Compton Magic in double overtime of the Adidas Gauntlet Finale but are of course still considered one of the nation’s elite teams.
“When times get tough we know each other’s game or just know how to play with each other,” Zeke said. ““(And) we’re one of the tallest teams in the Gauntlet. Our smallest player is like 6-foot-4 or 6-foot-3. And our second smallest is like 6-foot-7. We’re tall.”
They’ve had a size edge on every team in the nation save Compton Magic. Hopefully in Los Angeles or Las Vegas in the coming weeks a rematch of this weekend’s classic can give another fun battle. But for now Zeke is going to relax before the second open period weekend kicks off.
He’s also got some recruiting things floating around in his head.
“Probably the schools that I talk to the most are Arizona, Ohio State, Indiana, UCLA, Wisconsin, Baylor,” Zeke listed.
“I am not going to narrow things down until after the AAU season is over with, around August or September, get it down to a final five. Take officials and then by the time high school season starts, I’m definitely going to make a commitment.”
Nnaji is rated the 33rd ranked prospect overall in the Prep Hoops latest 2019 national rankings.
