Next Level Invite: Sunday Standouts
Karson Sharar, 6′ G (All Iowa Attach 15U)
The first guy in Iowa’s class of 2021 to nab a Division I offer. Sharar was so this weekend that he picked up a Drake offer. He’s got some Reed Timmer in him, and he showed that when he scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half and overtime of his team’s Elite 8 win over Young Lions.
Jordan Rice, 5’7 G (Quad City Elite 15U)
He’s not from Iowa, but he’s close enough that we thought we’d give him a shout out here. The Rock Island point guard was incredible in his team’s shellacking of All Iowa Attack in the Final 4, and I don’t remember him missing one shot. He’s extremely speedy, and an extremely precise shooter. A true marksman.
Casey Mumm, 5’10 G (All Iowa Attack 15U)
The Ames point guard has been solid all offseason, but at times is overshadowed by some of his other top-level teammates; not on Sunday. Mumm scored 10 points in a quarterfinal win over Young Lions, and it was his clutch 3-ball in overtime that sealed the win for Attack.
Jaron Crews, 6′ G (All Iowa Attack 15U)
Another guy who has been solid all spring and summer, Crews continues to improve and is in line to have a breakout sophomore season at Ankeny. He was one of the few Class 4A guys who played up with the varsity as a freshman last season, and already has a wealth of experience to work with at a young age.
Angelo Winkel, 6’8 F (All Iowa Attack 15U)
Winkel is one of those guys, like his teammate Karson Sharar, who always impresses. He was dominating the glass against a smaller Young Lions squad in the Elite, especially on the offensive end. He came away with a couple nasty blocks on Sunday, too.
Jayden Houston, 6′ G (Quad City Elite 15U)
In our first viewing of Houston, we were impressed. We first heard about the active guard from Prep Hoops Illinois senior writer Scott Burgess, and we saw first hand on Sunday what the Davenport North product is capable of. He’s slasher with a high-motor and a capable 3-point shooter. He’s got a high ceiling.
Oliver Bakeris, 6’4 PF (Quad City Elite 15U)
Bakeris could be a key piece for Bettendorf next season. The undersized big-man is long and nimble and also capable of hitting a mid-range J or handling it a little bit. He’ll develop into into more of a stretch-four eventually, and plays his role well with one of the Midwest’s best 15U squads.
