GASO WICHITA: Saturday Night Standouts
The third night of the Great American Shootout (GASO) Midwest event got underway on Saturday in Wichita with a host standout performances.
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several standouts from the event.
2 — Cevin Clark, 5’11, G, 2019, Arkansas City, Heat Elite
Clark is widely regarded as one of the state’s premier shooters, Clark helped lead his Heat Elite squad to the 17U NBA Bronze title on Saturday. Known for his ability to shoot from distance, Clark has shown this summer that he has a lot more to offer on the court. In Wichita, Clark consistently got to the basket and finished tough chances in the paint. He has a nice floater that he uses to get over opposing defenders and can play through contact well.
7 — Micah Jacques, 6’1, G, 2020, Wichita Southeast, Pray N Play
One of the state’s most underrated guard prospects in the 2020 class, Jacques has put together a terrific offseason with Pray N Play and on Saturday he had it all working in a hard fought win over KC Team Rush. A strong, powerfully built guard, Jacques likes to attack the basket where he combines quickness off the bounce with a physical style of play. But he showed this weekend he is also capable of dialing it up from distance and has taken his outside shooting to new heights.
6 — Johnny Murdock, 5’10, PG, 2019, Wichita Northeast, River City 17U Black
A terrific outside shooter, Murdock has taken his game to new levels this offseason. Known throughout much of his high school career for his shooting ability, Murdock has become a true point guard, capable of handling the ball under pressure and leading a team. He can get to the basket, does a good job of finishing through contact and can still shoot with range.
32 — Jaylin Richardson, 6’0, G/F, 2020, Schlagle, KC Team Rush 16U
A strong, powerfully built players, Richardson is one of the more unique players you’ll see. He is strong, able to rebound, defend all over the court and is capable of scoring in the paint, but also has the ability to handle the ball, get to the basket and has improved his outside shooting.
26 — Valdez White, 5’10, G, 2020, Lawrence, Primetime Ballerz 16U
White had a standout performance on Saturday against KC Team Rush as he battled a talented Rush backcourt. He did a good job handling the ball under duress and made plays off the bounce and was at his best attacking the basket and finishing in traffic. White went for 20 points, including 13 in the second half, scoring several key buckets to help keep Primetime close throughout the contest.
