UA Select Super 16 (2021 Forwards)
Here is a look at the top Class of 2021 forwards from last weekend’s UA PTN Select Super 16 in Cape Girardeau, MO:
Shaun Riley 6’4″ Team Ramey 2021
A young post player from O’Fallon, IL who was one of the top rebounders in the tournament in his age division. He was very active on the glass at both ends of the court with his length and activity. The lefty did a good job of scoring around the basket and he also hit the 10-12 footer off the catch. He has a nice upside.
Willie Davis III 6’1″ St. Louis Blazers
An undersized energizer bunny from Cardinal Ritter who played with a great motor and was very productive all weekend for the 15U champions. On a smaller team, he played a lot of forward and he competed and outworked bigger players with his high activity. He rebounded well and ran the floor and scored many buckets in transition. He was also a very good ball handler who attacked the basket effectively.
Landon Dailey 6’2″ Cape Elite 16U
A skilled young combo forward from small-school Leopold who was very impressive in the first time that I saw him. He is an excellent ball handler who displayed the ability to create space and get his own shot. He was also an excellent 3-point shooter off the catch. He was also very poised.
Eddie Simon 6’2″ Team Ramey 2021
The talented forward from Whitfield is one of the bigger players on a guard-dominated team, so he becomes a matchup problem against opposing bigger players. He is a solid ball handler who attacks the basket well and he can step out and knock down jumpers. He is always putting pressure on the defense.
Jordan Mertens 6’6″ 34Hoops
An intriguing young big from DeSoto High that I watched for the first time over the weekend. He is long and lanky and has a nice shooting touch around the basket and from 15 feet. He still needs a lot of strength, but he moves well and has a lot of potential for growth in his game.
