UA Select Super 16 (2020 Guards/Wings)
Here is a look at the top Class of 2020 guards and wings from last weekend’s UA PTN Select Super 16 in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Jordan Nesbitt 6’6″ Team Tae 16U
The talented wing player from St. Louis Christian had a big weekend in leading Team Tae to the 16U championship. With his size, he was tough to stop when he got to the basket and got buckets, drew fouls and a had a few highlight reel dunks. With his drive game going well, he was able to pull up and knock down 17 foot jumpers to compliment his attacks on the rim. He was also a big factor on the boards at both ends. Nesbitt recently announced that he would be attending St. Louis Christian Academy where is scheduled to reclassify as a 2021.
Doreante Tucker 6’2″ Cape Elite 16U
A talented wing player from Cape Girardeau Central who had a very good weekend while playing both 16U and 17U. He displayed good scoring prowess at at three levels. His slick handles and shooting touch made him very difficult to stop as he attacked the basket. He scored from different angles and knocked down pull up 3-pointers on the move. He kept defenders off balance with his ability to change speeds and directions.
Sofara Rasas 6’4″ Arsenal Hoops 16U
A long and athletic wing player from St. Mary’s who is poised to be a breakout performer next season after waiting his turn behind a senior-laden team. Rasas is a slashing wing who can get to the basket strong and attack the rim in the transition game. He has also improved his stroke from 3-point range.
Tahj Patterson 5’11” Team Tae 16U
A nice combo guard from Lutheran North who helped Team Tae win the 16U championship. He has displayed a versatile offensive skill set with his ability to get to the basket and create in the lane. His 3-point shooting is solid and he also has the ability to create a shot from himself off the dribble.
Brennan Jeffries 6’0″ Mid-Mo Elite 16U
A solid point guard from Jefferson City who helped lead his team to the Final Four in the 16U division. He was very good at pushing the pace and keeping the ball moving at all times. He did a good job of spreading the ball around to his teammates and dropping dimes. He is also a good shooter with a nice float game around the basket.
Devin Phillips 5’9″ Titans 17U
A speedy young guard from Confluence Academy who has enjoyed a very good summer. He used his speed and quickness to his advantage throughout the weekend, getting into the lane and pushing the pace in the transition game. He has a very good pull up jumper off the bounce to compliment his dribble penetration.
