Prospect Spotlight: Collin Breen (2019)
Fairfield could be a surprise team next year in Class 3A, and Collin Breen is a big reason why.
A 6-foot-4 guard, Breen has been impressing this offseason, both with his grassroots team Iowa Pump ‘N Run and in team camps with the Trojans.
It’s his improved offense that has been most striking. As a junior, he averaged 8.2 points per game on a squad that won 14 games. And although nearly all the team’s leading scorers will return, look for Breen’s productivity to increase next season.
“My skill set comes from attacking the rim and shooting off the dribble, I continue to improve on having a balanced shot and being confident on offense,” said Breen.
The Trojans ended last season red-hot, winners of 10 straight before a season-ending loss to Solon in a regional final.
Breen averaged 8.2 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game.
“My junior year was OK and my role on the team was to help handle the ball, score, and make good passes,” said Breen, who could see his assists numbers spike this season.
“Going into senior year, I feel like I will be better because I’ll move to point guard.”
Breen uses the recruitment website NCSA to to help with his goal of playing in college. He’ll also use a big July with Iowa Pump ‘N Run to try and generate some interest.
“It’s been great with great coaching; Duez Henderson, Tim Barnett, Jason Price. I’m just looking forward to play and to get better at the game.”
