Prospect Spotlight: Conner Hill (2019)
With still the bulk of the summer ahead of him, South Hamilton guard Conner Hill has already started to see his recruitment expand.
As he continues to get bigger and quicker, the rising senior could see that interest and offers list continue to swell over the next few months.
“I’ve been working on getting stronger and quicker, because that’s what I need to work on most at the next level, is building my body and getting ready for that next step,” said Hill.
“And I’ve been working on getting to the hole and finishing. As I talk to coaches, that’s what they want to know, is can I get to the hole? Can I finish?”
He added: “I’ve been known as a shooter and getting into the lane and making smart decisions is a good thing to add to my game.”
As a junior at South Hamilton, Hill was critical in helping lead the team to a second straight state tourney berth. As a senior, his role will expand even more.
“I look forward to taking the team under my wing a little bit. Obviously with Logan Peters, Cole Berg and Cade Balvanz, we’re going to have plenty of options offensively. It’s going to be a lot like this past year, we’re going to focus on defense and then get out and run the floor,” said Hill.
Ahead of bhis senior season, the 6-foot combo-guard will spend his July with All Iowa Attack 17U, and hopes to continue and excel with the team, one of the state’s best.
“We had a good spring, we won some tournaments and we’ve had some success traveling around,” said Hill. “Coming into July, I’d like to prove to coaches how I can play, and hopefully we can have more team success and get to some championships and final fours.”
He’s also hoping that his recruitment continues to grow. Morningside has offered, and Simpson offered him after its team camp last month. Grand View, Briar Cliff, Central and Wartburg are showing interest.
“Basically, I just want to find the place that’s best for me,” said Hill. “I want to go where I’m wanted, and where I can be successful.”
