Under the Radar Guys from The Finale
The prospects listed below are players that have some how slipped through the cracks this summer. They all will have opportunities to play at the next level. Colleges would be wise to take a strong look at each of the players.
Patrick Garrett 2019 Game Changer Hoops Wing
Garret has had a very quiet recruitment considering the great summer for him with Game Changer Hoops. The ability of him being able to affect the game in many different ways mixed in with his physical stature makes him a no-brainer for any small college in the country. He plays with a high motor using his 6’5 long and lanky frame to his advantage. He can put it on the floor or score by pulling up. Garrett will be one of the best small college kids in the state of Oklahoma this year. If he goes JUCO do not be surprised if he ends up at the NCAA Division I level.
Alijah Comithier 2019 Texas Tigers Wing
Comithier was one of the best out of state prospects to make his way to Oklahoma for The Finale. He is long, lanky, and athletic playing out on the Wing. He plays great defense forcing his opponent into bad shots or blocking their shot. As a scorer, he can truly beat his man from all three levels. On the dr,ive he thrives in large part due to his size and athleticism allowing him to over power defenders. Shooting the ball Comithier surprised me with his consistency especially from the outside. Oh, and we can’t leave out his hops that lead to amazing jams. He is without a doubt a kid NCAA Division II programs should be all over.
Syrus Grisby 2019 Teamwork Forward/Wing
Grisby has slimed down and really improved his quickness. Another area that has helped him is improved ball handling skills. Grisby put on a clinic exploiting the mismatch on offense. If he had a smaller man he used his strength to score around the basket. If there was a bigger man, Grisby drew him outside and drove past him. Grisby was also active on the defensive end blocking shots. He is a big sleeper for small colleges to know.
Austin Brewer 2020 Crab5 Elite Post
Brewer is flying under the radar with Crab5 Elite. The ability of Brewer to score around the rim with his back to the basket is impressive. He does a number of things that won’t show up huge on a stat sheet but help his team win. Rebounding the ball on both ends is a strong part of his game. Brewer also showed a little ability to shoot the basketball. Don’t be surprised when he burst onto the scene next spring as colleges turn their focus towards the 2020 Class.
Mark Berry 2019 Oklahoma Flight Wing
Berry is flying under the radar. Oklahoma Flight gives him the opportunity to showcase his skill set on the Wing. He is an athletic, hard working, and has some swagger to his game. Berry is a young man that is set for a big July and could blossom during his senior year into a can’t miss small college prospect. The growth of Berry over the past year shows signs for a huge senior season.
Jordan White 2019 Oklahoma Impact Forward/Wing
For the majority of White’s career, he has played as a Post. Although, it has left him with a need to catch up on Guard skills there are some benefits to his game having to play down low. He has a nice low post game on both ends and a great toughness about him. He rebounds the ball at a great level. Due to him playing at a small high school (Kellyville) not many are aware of how good White could be at the next level. For small colleges, White is going to be a tweener depending on what level and fit. Small colleges should keep an eye on his progression over his senior season.
Keenan Miller 2019 River City (KS) Wing
Miller was phenomenal on Sunday morning bringing his A game on both ends of the court. He slashes to the basket and finishes around the rim well. On defense, Miller was super active using his athleticism to spring up and block or adjust shots. He is a player who has not received a scholarship offer, but is going to pick some stuff up this July at the small college level.
CJ Gunns 2018 Oklahoma Impact Point Guard
Gunns had a fantastic showing this weekend. How this kid is not signed is beyond me considering his skill set. He is a 5’11 Point Guard with great explosiveness, scoring ability, and the heart of a lion. Playing at a small high school is the result of him still being available. The athleticism of Gunns is off the charts. He plays extremely hard leaving everything he has out on the floor. Gunns is the perfect late get for a JUCO.
Quentin Harvey 2019 Ball 4 Life Wing/Forward
Harvey is a versatile Wing/Forward combo that continues to slide under the radar. He has a great skill set allows him to be successful on the Wing or down low. The wiliness of Harvey to play down low and battle. block shots, and rebound add to his value. Harvey can shoot the ball well from the outside. He also has a nice post up game on the low block. In college at 6’6 Harvey is probably best as a stretch four. NAIA and NCAA Division II programs needing to fill that role should give Harvey a hard look.
