2019 Rankings: Point Guards
KyKy Tandy, University Heights (Team Thad) – Tandy is an elite level athlete who scores at an incredibly high rate. At the NBPA Top 100 camp last month Tandy was able to show his ability as a facilitator and not strictly as a scorer. If Tandy can ever buy into being more of a point guard and less of a shot first point, he can be an overseas pro after college or even find his way to the league. Look for KyKy to keep racking up the high major offers all July.
Jordan Graham, George Rogers Clark (M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs) – Graham is the opposite of Tandy in a lot of ways. Jordan has great size for the position at 6’4 and is very well built as a pass first point. Graham has to continue improving as a shooter at the next level but could be an all conference type of player at the mid major D1 level in college. Jordan makes an impact as a rebounder, passer and scorer and is likely to gather more offers as July progresses.
Keaston Brown, Henry Clay (Manimal Elite) – Another pass first point guard, Brown is at his best creating for others off the bounce and hitting perimeter jump shots. Keaston still has room to improve as a midrange scorer. Brown will have multiple college suitors at multiple levels before the end of his senior season and could get a couple of college offers in July with Manimal Elite.
Rodriguez Thomas, Paducah Tilghman (Pocket City) – Thomas is likely the best shooter of any of the point guards in the class as he shoots at about 50% from 3. Ultimately, Rodriguez could be better suited away from the ball at the next level but he runs the show for Tilghman and plays with the ball in his hands a lot for Pocket City. Thomas has good size and strength for his position and will hope to impress coaches this month and land an offer or two before the calendar turns to August.
Corey Girton, North Bullitt – Known to many as “Boogie”, Girton has a crazy amount of potential. He’s strong, super bouncy and has a good handle but his decision making and jump shot both have plenty of room to improve. Athletically, there may not be a more gifted player in the state but Girton has had terrible luck with injuries over the last two years and is currently in a cast since he was injured while dunking back in April while playing for Manimal Elite. Time will tell where Girton ends up but he has all the potential to be a top 5-10 player in the class.
