2019 Rankings Update: Top Small Forwards
Dontaie Allen, Pendleton County (M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs) – Allen has been entrenched in the top 3 players in the class for a while now and has been building up quite the impressive stack of scholarship offers in recent months. Dontaie is primed for a big month of AAU and could find his way into the top 100 in the country if he has a strong month.
Michael Moreno, Scott County (Indiana Elite) – Michael is the likely front runner for 2019’s Mr Basketball award and is a walking double double for Scott County every night. Moreno’s improvement as a perimeter shooter over the past couple of seasons has been impressive and he continues to show his ability to play the wing in college. July could bring high major offers for Moreno.
Kyle Rode, Lexington Christian (Indiana Elite) – Moreno’s AAU teammate, Rode has already pledged his services to Liberty University for college. Kyle is one of the more versatile players in the 2019 crop and can play any position on offense. The question about Kyle was always how well he can guard the wing but Liberty should be able to coach him up on that end of the floor. Rode’s offensive skillset is going to get him on the court at Liberty early and often.
Jacob Hobbs, Central Hardin (Manimal Elite) – After moving way up the rankings with this update, Jacob finds himself among the top small forwards in the class. Hobbs is not a great perimeter shooter but continues to show growth in all areas of his game as he matures. Hobbs is a good athlete with a motor that rarely stops. As a result, look for him to possibly land his first D1 scholarship offer this month.
Taquan Hollowell, University Heights (Pocket City) – Another prospect who plays with a great motor, Hollowell keeps improving as a wing. Taquan hasn’t always had the greatest work ethic but as he has matured off the court, he has started to put the work in on the hardwood and the results can be seen in the evolution of his game.
