Recruiting Update: North Florida Making Moves
David Didenko, Boca Raton
At 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, Didenko is quite the imposing figure as a high scoring combination forward.
He possesses a smooth and very consistent jumper, reliable handle, as well as an arsenal of manipulative one on one moves.
He’s able to score inside and throw head fakes (which many defenders at this level tend to bite on) and has a cerebral quality to his game.
Now re-classifying into 2019, Didenko is sifting through prep options and seeking a full scholarship at an established basketball breeding ground known to nurture talent like his.
The big Russian’s stock has heightened these past few weeks, as he’s performed well in a handful of South Florida area events. Didenko showed promise with 24 points, 16 boards, and five assists during a recent event run by Big Shots.
His IQ, assortment of guard skills, and ability to finish above the rim were on display. North Florida recently plunked down a scholarship for Didenko.
His recent play has garnered the interest of Florida Atlantic, Murray State, Virginia, Texas Tech, and a whole handful of others.
Osei Price, Montverde Academy
The Class of 2020 prospect is nearly 6-foot-5 and now one of the state’s rising multi-positional, two-way threats. Price possesses sturdy handle, a reliable mid-range game, and can spread out the floor with his vastly improved 3-point shooting acumen.
As an above average athlete, Price is capable of manufacturing offense in a variety of ways. Yet at the same time, his defensive versatility really opens eyes.
Nosakhare Bright, International
All the way from Africa, the monstrous 6-foot-10, 210-pound Class of 2020 prospect brings a serious level of potential and sky-scraping upside. He’s already grasping the intricacies of the big man role, dunking with relative ease and backing down smaller defenders into the post. He’s got big, soft hands which enables him to hit short jumpers and block shots in the key. While he’s still learning, there’s no question he’s got high-major potential.
Mohamdou Diawara, Massanutten Military Academy
The Boo Williams product has Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Rhode Island in heavy pursuit. He’s 6-foot-9, 220 pounds and fully capable of defending the rim.
“Diawara can really move on both ends, he can run the floor and get easy baskets,” explained MMA head coach Chad Myers, who has groomed a torrent of talent in Virginia and beyond.
“He has shown he can make open threes. On the defensive end, he can guard multiple positions and has even been able to switch ball screens and contain guards.”
Myers cited Diawara’s innovative game and high character as the integral attributes that make him appealing to high-major Division-I coaches.
“Diawara always showed major strides on his post game on the off end. For example, the improvement in his jump hook. He leads off the floor by example. He’s the type of person you would want your children to be like.”
