- Class C saw one lower seed win with the 9 seed in Gibsland-Coleman getting a win on the road over Family Community
- Class 1A saw one lower seed win with the 10 seeded Tensas in 1A winning over Delhi on the road.
- Class 3A saw one lower seed win with the 9 seed Port Allen winning on the road against the 25 seed Iowa.
- Class B and 2A have been chalk for all the games thus far with only Top 8 seeds advancing.
- Class 4A has one non top 8 seed still in with the 9 seed Plaquemine getting a road win over Northside. It’ll add another tonight when the 26 seed Opelousas hosts the 10 seed McDonogh 35.
- Class 5A was madness last night with the 3, 4, 6 and 7 seeds going down while the 1 and 2 seeds saw much tougher match-ups than they were expecting.
- 10 Seed St. Augustine won on road against 7 seed Comeaux, 11 seed Ouachita Parish won on the road against 6 seed West Jefferson, 13 seed East Ascension won on the road against 4 seed St. Paul’s and 19 seed Bonnabel won at home against 3 seed Landry-Walker.
The tweet of the night goes to Mississippi State signee and Landry-Walker senior leader and point guard Lamar Peters. The young man showed tremendous class after the loss and that will help him going forward. He said, “I take that whole down fall I let everybody down wasnt the best leader this year wasnt hungry enough at all and thats what happens when u BS.”
Scouting Reports for East Ascension and St. Paul’s
LeAaron Cain (6’2 SG, EA, 2017) – The guard had it going inside and out. Scored 5 3s and 5 2s in the first half alone. Shows a quick release and incredible body control.
Jimel London (5’8 PG, EA, 2018) – Young point guard is the engine for this team. He runs the show and proved he knows when he needs to attack and score. Rebounds well beyond size.
Justin Harris (6’7 PF, EA, 2017) – Harris was a force rebounding on both ends and even showed off skill set in transition. Likely a football player at next level but has a great feel for the game.
Cameron Wire (6’6 PF, EA, 2018) – Wire moved laterally as well as you could want a big man to move. He was able to protect rim and rebound against the big front line.
Shedrick Smith (5’10 SG, EA, 2018) – His toughness he brings from football plays bigger than his size. Always after lose balls and can score from each level on offense.
Harrison Prieto (6’7 PF, SPS, 2016) – Prieto finished a fantastic career. Can shoot it from beyond the three point line and score inside. Not sure he’ll play basketball in college.
Parker Edwards (6’3 SG, SPS, 2018) – Edwards put the team on his shoulders when they were down. Crafty with the ball and can score outside and in. Defends better than you’d expect.
Skyler Herbert (6’4 SG, SPS, 2016) – Senior did what he always does in knocking down multiple shots. Made clutch free throws late to keep them within reach.
Timothy Bedford (6’4 PG, SPS, 2017) – Bedford ran the show but struggled at times getting his own looks against the pressure from EA. Long athlete who can defend as well.
Devonte Allen (6’6 PF, SPS, 2018) – Allen scored in the lane against smaller players but not effectively as he would have liked. Plays hard and runs the floor extremely well.
Chandler Owenby (6’7 PF, SPS, 2018) – Nice to have a big like him off the bench. Rebounds and knocked down a three from the corner. Really sneaky athlete who could use some weight.
