Higley ranked among the top three teams in the state the first half of the season and finished as the #11 seed in the state tournament. Bryan’s ability to score, pass, and rebound made a big difference in their turnaround.
Donald Carter 6’0 2017 Cesar Chavez – Cesar Chavez was one of the top teams in Division-II all season and a big reason was the play of their junior standout Donald Carter. Carter was the team’s leader and floor general. Playing both guard slots, his ability to get into the paint and make plays for others was very important. His ability to defend was even bigger.
Jacob Inclan 6’4 2016 Sunnyside – Inclan was the best player for the Blue Devils, a team that finished ranked #7 in the final regular season rankings. The powerful wing scored the ball at multiple levels and rebounded well.
Wyatt Lowell 6’9 2016 Williams Field – While Lowell’s team didn’t have the greatest season he still proved himself as one of the top players in the state. The 6’9″ forward was a mismatch problem due to his ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter in combination with his size.
Brendan Rumel 6’11 2016 Rincon – Rumel was the biggest mismatch in southern Arizona. The 6’11” senior had a great year, finishing as one of the state’s leaders in scoring, rebounds, and blocked shots. He lifted his team to a #17 seeding in the state tournament before falling in the first round.
