The Royals raced out to 17-10 lead in the first quarter, behind strong early performances from Christian Reischauer and Christian Montgomery. But that lead would be salted away, due in large part to Thunder senior Robbie Seyler, and his red-hot shooting.

Seyler’s buzzer-beating 3 would take his Thunder into the half with a one point lead, and give them some momentum heading into the second half. From there Seyler would stay hot, and sophomore point guard Grant DeMeulenaere would turn into a show-stopper. Freshman big-man Arturo Montes was a force in the paint, and the trio catalyzed a gutsy and sensational second half frenzy that was too much for the No. 3 Royals to overcome.
GV Christian PG Grant DeMeulenaere is a beast, super skilled. He's crushing here in 4Q — Thunder up 51-48, 2:33 left in game #iahsbkb

Reischauer lead Colo-NESCO with 21 points in the loss, 11 came in the fourth quarter alone. Garret Tiarks added 14, and Brady Stoeffler chipped in with 11.
With the win the Thunder advance to a substate game against Montezuma. The two will square-off on Saturday night in Knoxville at 7:00.

Grand View Christian Player Evaluations
2018 Grant DeMeulenaere, 5’8 PG
Forget that he’s short and slender, the kid can flat-out ball. He’s a plus ball-handler, with top-notch vision — he saw the court better than anyone on the floor tonight. He’s a superb shooter, evidenced by his four 3s in the game (53 percent on the season). He calmly knocked in two FTs late during crunch-time, and he’s only a sophomore. He’ll make his debut in the next installment of 2018 rankings this spring.
2017 Stephen Glenn, 6’2 G
The team’s leading scorer, averages 16.1 points per game, but was looking to help in other ways tonight. He scored just three points, but out-hustled and out-worked opponent all night. He’s our 90th-ranked 2017 right now, and is capable of impacting a game in a variety of ways.
2019 Arturo Montes, 6’4 C
I’m told his dad is 6’8 and played basketball at a high level in Mexico. Montes did not start tonight, but came off the bench and instantly made an impact; first scoring, then assisting, then blocking a shot on consecutive possessions. He’s got a firm and bulky build, and could develop into an absolute monster in the coming years. He’s the X-factor and the difference-maker for this team. We’ll keep a close eye on him this offseason with Kingdom Hoops — he’ll be in the next 2019 rankings.
Colo-NESCO Player Evaluations
2016 Christian Reischauer, 6′ G
He was the most heralded Royal player coming into the game, and backed it up with his play. A scorer before anything else, he can hurt you from deep, or by attacking the rim, where he’s able to finish effectively and sometimes creatively. He has a nice understanding of the game, and passes the ball well for a scoring guard.
2016 Brady Stoeffler, 6′ G
His tremendous senior season comes to an end, but he’s a potential college guard for any D3 schools looking for an especially speedy guard who can shoot the ball. Stoeffler was held scoreless in the first half, but scored 11 in the second half. His shooting numbers are good this season — 54 percent from the floor, 40 3FG% — and like Reischauer he’s able to blow-by his opponent and score at the rim when necessary.
