Tuesday Night’s Top Ten
There were only nine games played in South Dakota last night but there were some very important results and top performers. Also, there were twice as many games from Monday so we add the key results from that into Tuesday Night’s Top Ten.
- Three loss Huron won another game with another balanced offensive attack leading to four guys in double figures led by the 16 points of Hyland Heinz who continues a standout junior year. Brevin Kaiser had 27 for the Governors but Bradley Dean missing the game to illness left the team short handed as far as depth is considered and Huron had too much.
- Playing for the outright Black Hills Conference title, St. Thomas More beat Belle Fourche 70-45 led by eight three-point makes from Jake Satter and 26 points overall.
- Seth Friez went off on Monday scoring 31 and leading Chamberlain to an eight point win over Roncalli. The Cubs shot a ridiculous 59 percent from the field for the game as a team.
- We can’t say enough about Devon Leiferman and the year he is having. Simply outstanding inside and out as Devon has showed he has the range of a three and the toughness of a four. Had 26 and 11 against Crow Creek on Monday leading his team to a three point win.
- A balanced effort of 14 points each from Anthony Bachmeier and Cannon Hanningan led Aberdeen Central over Brookings by six points.
- Need to throw out the 26 point performance from Shay Jolley who had that tough game in front of the state at the Corn Palace in a win but this was more of a normal game for him as Canistota ran away from Colman-Egan.
- Yankton got 18 points each from Tanner Frick and Bradey Sorenson as Yankton controlled Mitchell from start to finish for a 57-38 win setting them up for the playoffs in a winning way.
- Mount Vernon/Plankinton needed one more win to head into the playoffs on a good note and they got it as Devin Rihanek went wild with 28 points and six rebounds in a 25 point win over MCM.
- A high school squad named Marty beat Wagner 73-68 and got 24 each from Oscar Bernie and Devon Drapeaux. Wagner had 19 and 13 from Jubal Grant. And after all that, does anybody want to play the name game? Of course you do!
- Eli Val Roekel continues a strong campaign with 24 leading Corsica-Stickney to an 18-3 record on the season. It was a good win on the road as they beat Parkston and look quite ready for the playoffs.
