Our list is not a list of the best players in each Sectional, but rather a list of the guys who we believe could be a big impact to a team capable of making a run this postseason. Here are the 10 players we think could have the greatest impact in 2A.
Cooper Neese – 6’4 SF – Cloverdale
The importance of Neese is huge for Cloverdale. He’s such a tough guy to defend and at the same time, their biggest scoring option. Cloverdale hasn’t been able to beat teams that are a little better than they are this season and the only way they do that in the tournament is with Cooper going off.
Kamron Herrington – 6’4 SG – Lapel
While Lapel has Jon Ross Richardson, the importance of Herrington is far larger. That comes from the fact that he’s their primary ball handler and can be their best defender. Lapel has a legit shot to go deep and will need to continue to create mismatches like they have all season with Kamron on the perimeter.
Brandon Johnson – 6’8 PF – Bowman Academy
I don’t think Bowman Academy has gotten as much out of Johnson as they might have been hoping for but when it comes to the tournament and 2A, size makes a much bigger difference. He’s got a chance to be a really big difference-maker in the next few weeks.
Nate Walpole – 6’1 SG – Whitko
Walpole has been a big time scoring option this season for Whitko and has helped to turn around their season from last year. They got a nice draw and has a legit chance of getting a Sectional Championship but need Nate to be at his best to do it.
Brian Warren – 5’11 PG – Indianapolis Howe
In 2A, you don’t get the types of players like Warren that can go out and light it up for 40 points in a night, really none do. Howe is pretty solid but expectations are high this season and will rely a ton of how Brian shows up. He’s going to be tough to stop and game plan against.
Some More Impact Guys To Watch:
Griffin Spring – 6’4 SF – Covington
Tyler Smith – 6’2 PG – Northeastern
Gavin Griggs – 6’3 SF – Shenandoah
Chase Fierstos – 6’3 SG – Manchester
Joshua Dieball – 6’3 SG – Linton-Stockton
