The favorite: Turner Scott (16.2 points, 61.3 FG%), Quinton Curry (14.3, 63.3) and Carlo Marble (12.0, 44.6) pace 4A’s most efficient offense for West Des Moines Valley. The Tigers are shooting 54% from the field as a team and 44.4% from the arc. With their dynamic trio of star power, Valley rolled to a 14-0 start. They’re also a solid defensive team, allowing just 50 points a game.
The biggest threat: It will take a big effort for anyone in this district to knock off Valley, but Ankeny Centennial has a good trio of scorers in Connor Cullen (15.2), Chase Edwards (13.9) and Connor Kasperbauer (11.2). The Jaguars have a veteran lineup with some scoring punch.
The dark horse: Des Moines Roosevelt enters the semi-finals riding a six-game winning streak. The Roughriders are led by Gatdoar Kueth (14.8), a big wing who can do a bit of everything. They’ve got six others players averaging between 4.1 and 7.0 points, giving them a nice balance. Coach Zanders has been around the block before with Hoover, and he’s got the team peaking late.
