In a statement win over conference rival Des Moines North last Friday night, it was teammate Y’Vex Quinn who stole the show scoring 22 points in the second half, but it was Lee who was the steady hand from start to finish. The three year Hoover starter scored 22 points of his own, on 11-15 shooting, and added 15 rebounds and 2 blocks to help the Huskies to the hard-fought win.
2016 Jordan Bohannon, Linn-Mar (6′ G)
He’ll be a Hawkeye next year, and he’s been torching opponents all season long for the Lions this year. He’s getting better as the season wears on, and he scored 40 points for the second time this season in a win over Ankeny Centennial last Saturday night. The sharpshooter scored 27 of his 40 from downtown, connecting on nine 3s in the 77-52 win.
2016 Spencer Brown, Lenox (6’8 PF)
In what was certainly the most impressive performance of the season, and likely one of the greatest single-game performances in Iowa high school history, Spencer Brown scored 42 points and grabbed 41 rebounds in a loss to Stanton last Monday night. Brown – who signed with UNI to play football earlier this month – has been tormenting opponents all season, averaging 22.7 points, 19.2 rebounds, and 5.1 blocks per game.
2016 Connor Sonius, West Hancock (6′ PG)
The often written about point guard went out with a bang in his final home game. Sonius erupted for 40 points, and tied a school record connecting on nine 3s in a 93-63 win over Bishop Garrigan last Tuesday night. He added 12 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals for good measure, narrowly missing out on yet another triple-double.
2017 Riley LeGrand, Beckman Catholic (6’1 PG)
LeGrand has established himself as one of the state’s best assist guys, and he dished out 16 of them in a 84-63 regular season finale win over Independence last Friday night. He was effeicient 2-3 from the floor, 2-2 from the free throw line, and added 10 rebounds and 4 steals in the 21 point triumph.
