11:30am- Bridgewater-Emery (12-4) vs Corsica-Stickney (12-3)
In what was considered somewhat of a bridge season the Huskies have played extremely well winning a dozen games thus far. Freshman Sawyer Schultz has caught a lot of eyes while junior Sam Arend and lone senior Lucas Miller are also having quality seasons. The Jags are quite similar with only one senior but a good senior (Eli Van Roekel) and they have really played well in a potential bridge year winning twelve as well. Junior guard Hunter Johnson and sophomore big Cordel Menning are leading the way with strong seasons.
1:00pm- Parkston (11-5) vs Sanborn-Central/Woonsocket (Class B No. 8, 13-3)
The Blackhawks are on a roll winning five straight including wins over Hanson, Ethan, Corsica-Stickney, Wolsey-Wessington, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton. 2:30pm- Mount Vernon-Plankinton (10-5) vs Chester (Class B No. 10)
Fun battle between a strong Class A program and a top ten Class B team. Tate Deinert is the heart and soul of the Titans and they have won five of six after losing three straight. Good wins over Winner, Spearfish, and Ethan have but them back on track. Chester is on a similar run as the Titans losing some games around the New Year but the Flyers have win six in a row beating Sioux Valley, Corsica-Stickney, and Canistota in recent weeks.
4:00pm- Canistota (Class B No. 5, 13-2) vs White River (Class B No. 2, 14-2)
This is one of the two games that is most anticipated this weekend. White River is a balanced group led by guard Justice Morrison, wing Dru Espinoza, and big Nick Young. The Tiger opponent is the Canistota Hawks led by sharp shooting who Shay Jolley who will be a great match-up for Espinoza while Dylan Warren and Xavier Ward will have to deal with Young. Both teams have their vision on state title gold and this game will give them a strong gage of where they are.
5:30pm- Irene-Wakonda (Class B No 9, 13-3) vs Langford Area (Class B No. 4, 13-2)
Gabe King of the Eagles will be one of the featured players at the event. The future Northern State Wolves forward is a double-double regular and his team has won 10 of 11. Langford has also won 10 of 11 and they have moved on from last year a lot better than many expected. Sophomore small forward Mason Larson is the headliner for the Lions and Larson will have an excellent chance to grow against Gabe King.
7:00pm- Sioux Falls Christian (Class A No. 2, 13-3) vs St. Thomas More (Class A No. 7, 14-3)
The match-ups in this Class A showdown are fantast. At lead guard PJ Freidel runs the show for the Cavs and he will go against big game Jackson Schipper. On the wing junior Preston Arity is coming off some big games for St. Thomas More and will he will have a big challenge against Charger sharp shooter Keegan Van Egdom. Jake Satter has one of the best shooting touches in the state at 6-foot-5 and a similar sized junior Dejay Fykstra will get his chance to stop him. Inside Isaac Kortemeyer will wrestle with Austin Schreur on the inside in one of the featured Class A big match-ups of the year.
8:30pm- Dell Rapids (Class A No. 1, 14-1) vs Aberdeen Roncalli (10-5)
Roncalli lost so much from last year but started this year winning seven of eight. They have hit some struggles losing four of seven but they are a young growing team. Dell Rapids has earned the top spot in the state with wins over Sioux Falls Christian twice and they have the leader for Player of the Year in Ty Hoglund who is playing in the building that he will play in when he goes to college next year at DWU. Roncalli sophomore Gus Reede will get a nice opportunity against one of the state’s best.
