5. A.J. Garret, Ellet – While he may not get it this year, consider the junior one of the frontrunners for the award next season. He’s averaging a double-double despite facing constant double teams.
4. Blake Furcron, Elyria – The hidden gem of Northeast Ohio, Furcron is averaging 22.5 ppg and shooting 53 percent from the field. The senior is on the open market, as he recently reopened his recruitment after being committed to D2 Ohio Dominican.
3. Tervell Beck, Cleveland Central Catholic – From start to finish, Beck has been one of the best players in Northeast Ohio, as he is averaging 26.2 ppg. Another uncommitted senior, he’s maybe the best available player left in the state.
2. Willie Jackson, Garfield Heights – The Missouri commit has held the No. 2 spot for most of the season and is averaging a solid 20-and-10 this season due to his ability to rebound. He’ll have his team competing for a state title.
1. Markell Johnson, East Tech – In the span of a week, Johnson received an Ohio State offer and put up 49 points on Glenville to win the Senate championship. He’s the only player in the area averaging over 30 ppg.
