The Chariton small forward has been playing point guard of late, and it’s working out splendidly for him and his team. Chuol is routinely putting up double-digit assist numbers, and last Monday he did it again, going for 10 assists, and adding 21 rebounds, and 9 points. He’s Iowa’s own Draymond Green.
2016 Dylan Lucas, Sidney
The 6-foot-7 Sidney senior erupted last Thursday night for a triple-double. Most impressive was the 10 blocks in his team’s win over Clarinda Academy. But he also added 21 points and 16 rebounds. Not bad for a guy who averages 12.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks.
2017 Cory Hopper, Holy Trinity Catholic
His team may be struggling this season, but the junior guard is making a case to enter the next installment of 2017 prospects rankings to be released later this month. He scored a career-high 37 points in a loss to Winfield-Mt. Union last Monday night, while connecting on eight triples. He got it done defensively too, swiping 4 steals.
2016 Colin Squiers, Beckman Catholic
This kid has gotten exponentially better this season for the Beckman Catholic Trailblazers, and he – like Chuol (see above) – will be due for a bump in the new prospect rankings. The 6-foot shooting guard was a model of efficiency last Tuesday night in a win over Mount Vernon; going for 29 points on 10 of 12 shooting, 5-5 from beyond the arc, and 4-4 from the free-throw line. He added 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals for good measure.
2016 Makonn Anderson, Shenandoah
Another guy who is a triple-double threat each night out, Anderson was sensational last Friday night in a win over Creston. He poured in 20 points, snared 15 rebounds, and dished out 10 assists – not bad for a big-man.
