The Pella Christian megastar proved himself one of the state’s best 2017’s last season at Wells Fargo Arena in March. Now he’s doing his thing as an upperclassmen with the Eagles. He poured in a career-high 42 points last Tuesday night against Grinnell, adding 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Unfortunately it was in a losing effort.
2016 Luke Hudnutt, 6’7 C (Madrid)
Hudnutt has been a defensive menace for the better part of two years now. And his timing, leaping, and length were all on full display in a win last Tuesday night over Guthrie Center. He swatted 10 shots to secure his triple-double, adding 24 points and 13 rebounds.
2016 Tanner Youngberg, 6’4 G (Pocahontas Area)
The often written-about point guard for the Indians is turning in one of the better seasons in the state; scoring well, shooting efficiently, and averaging nearly a double-double with points and rebounds. He put it all together in a big way last Tuesday in a win over Clarion-Goldfield; 28 points (11-13 FGs), 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 5 blocks.
2017 Cam Arkema, 6′ G (Twin Cedars, Bussey)
After playing in the shadows of Otis Roby the last two seasons, it’s now Arkema’s turn to shine in Twin Cedars, and shine he did last Friday night. The 6-foot guard nearly triple-doubled with points, rebounds, and steals in a win over Orient-Macksburg – going for 30, 11, and 8, respectively.
2016 Dylan Nichols, G (Orient-Macksburg)
It’s a “Premier Performers” first, but Dylan Nichols’ 48 points in the same game against Arkema and Twin Cedars, Bussey had to make this list too. The point total was the highest of the season to date – and is the highest single game total since Wade Martian dropped 50 in a game for West Onawa last January.
